The legal duty, the Schedule 3 factors, a five step method and what a completed manual handling risk assessment looks like.
A manual handling risk assessment is the written process an employer uses to identify the handling tasks that could cause injury, judge how serious the risk is and decide the controls that will reduce it. Regulation 68 of the General Application Regulations 2007 makes it a legal duty wherever manual handling cannot be avoided, and it feeds directly into the safety statement required by Section 20 of the 2005 Act.

This manual handling course was designed from day one for busy working people. Every lesson streams on any device, every pause saves your place, and nothing needs installing. HD video, animation and interactive questions turn spine anatomy, TILE assessment and lifting technique into knowledge that actually sticks.
The syllabus tracks exactly what the HSA expects: how handling injuries happen, load assessment before every lift, the eight principles of safe manual handling, pushing and pulling, team lifts and mechanical aids. Scenes come from real Irish warehouses, wards, shops and sites.
Whether you are one worker getting job ready or a manager certifying a whole workforce, the manual handling training flows without friction from registration to certificate.
A classroom manual handling day costs far more than the ticket price: travel, cover staff, lost hours and scheduling headaches. The online manual handling course removes every one of those costs. Staff certify from home, the office or the warehouse floor, starting the moment you enrol them.
Managers see each completion in real time and can hand auditors a full training record in seconds. Stack the automatic volume discounts on top and this becomes the most economical accredited manual handling training available in Ireland.
Pricing is honest: one figure covers the full course, unlimited retakes and the instant manual handling certificate. No add ons, ever.
Nobody learns well against a stopwatch. The self-paced manual handling course lets you move at whatever speed suits, pausing on any device and resuming exactly where you left off. Shift workers, parents and busy teams all finish comfortably.
A clear progress tracker shows how much of the manual handling training remains and how close the certificate is. Some learners complete it in one focused sitting of about 45 minutes; others take a few short sessions across the week. Both work perfectly.
Assign it to employees and they will slot it around real work without disruption, one of the main reasons Irish employers return to Online Safety Courses year after year.
There is no waiting around. Pass the assessment and the digital manual handling certificate is generated on the spot, aligned with Irish legislation and recognised across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
It lives permanently in your account for re-download during audits, job applications and insurance renewals, and its unique verification code lets any employer or inspector confirm it instantly.
On a CV, the certificate is one of the most requested credentials in Irish hiring, often the difference between two otherwise identical candidates.
Every module comes from licensed, Chartered (CMIOSH) health and safety consultants holding NFQ Level 6 and QQI Level 6 qualifications, people who have assessed real handling tasks in real Irish workplaces.
That experience shows: you learn to judge a load honestly, set your feet and back correctly, use team lifts properly and reach for mechanical aids at the right moments. Case studies from Irish warehouses, care settings and sites make each lesson concrete.
Content is re-reviewed against current legislation and HSA guidance, so the manual handling course never drifts out of date.
The platform never closes. Start the manual handling training on a quiet night shift, continue on Saturday morning and finish over lunch on Monday, whatever rhythm suits your life.
Progress syncs across every device automatically, so switching from phone to laptop mid module is seamless. Night crews and remote workers get exactly the same premium experience.
Teams can also reopen the safe lifting modules as a refresher before a heavy delivery day, turning the course into a living safety reference rather than a one time event.
Online Safety Courses has certified more than 749,500 learners across Ireland, the UK and Europe, with a 98% pass rate and a 4.9 star average from verified Google reviews we cannot edit or hide.
From Dublin to Cork, Galway to Limerick and Waterford to Belfast, our manual handling training protects backs and keeps businesses compliant every working day.
Employers come back because it simply works: clean records, instant certificates and a support team that answers.
Legally, anyone whose work involves lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling loads. The 2005 Act and the 2007 Regulations put the duty on every employer, and HSA inspectors ask for the training records.
Practically, that means warehouse operatives and delivery drivers, healthcare workers and carers, retail and hospitality staff, construction workers, cleaners and the office employee who shifts archive boxes twice a week. New starters need it at induction; everyone else needs a refresher every 3 years.
If your hands move loads at work, this course applies to you, and our Irish support team will happily confirm which other courses your role needs.
The legal duty, the Schedule 3 factors, a five step method and what a completed manual handling risk assessment looks like.
Walk the workplace and list every task that involves lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing or pulling. Ask the people who do them: they know which ones hurt.
Screen each task. Light loads handled occasionally in good conditions may need no more than a note. Tasks that are frequent, heavy, awkward or done in poor conditions need the full Schedule 3 assessment.
For each significant task, record the Task, Individual, Load and Environment factors from Schedule 3. Note the weight, the frequency, the postures involved, the distance and the working conditions. Photographs help.
Apply the hierarchy: can the task be avoided with mechanical equipment or a change of process? If not, can the load be lighter, the storage height better, the route shorter, the pace slower? Then specify the training and information workers need.
Write the assessment into the safety statement, brief the people affected, implement the controls and set a review date. Review whenever the task, the equipment or the people change, and after any injury or near miss.
Regulation 68 of the 2007 Regulations, feeding the Section 20 safety statement.
The load, effort, environment, activity and individual factors every assessment must cover.
When tasks, equipment or people change, and after any injury or near miss.
The accredited Manual Handling Course teaches workers to recognise the risk factors an assessment records, so the controls you write actually happen on the floor.
