What is DSE Training?
DSE (Display Screen Equipment) Training is a certified course designed to educate employees, managers, and business owners on working safely and comfortably with computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. The course covers the health risks associated with screen work, including repetitive strain injuries (RSI), back and neck pain, and visual fatigue, as well as DSE risk assessments, correct workstation setup, and healthy posture. It explains the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, which apply to display screen equipment in Ireland. Whether you work in an office, a call centre, a control room, or from home, DSE Training gives you the knowledge and confidence to set up your workstation correctly, protect your long-term health, and meet all legal requirements in Ireland and across the EU.

The course takes approximately 40 minutes to complete and is accessible on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Designed with a clear, interactive format, the online course guides you through four modules: an introduction to DSE and the health risks of screen work; DSE risk assessments; how to set up your workstation; and improving posture and wellbeing. Video lessons and real-world examples make the content easy to follow. Upon successful completion, you receive a CPD certified certificate instantly, with no need to attend a classroom or schedule an appointment.
03
DSE Certificate & CPD Compliance
Upon completing the DSE course, you receive a professionally issued certificate that is CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified. Your certificate is valid for 3 years and is fully recognised by employers and safety professionals across Ireland, the UK, and the EU. The certification demonstrates that you have been trained in the health risks of display screen work, DSE risk assessment, correct workstation setup, and healthy posture and wellbeing. It is ideal for demonstrating compliance with the General Application Regulations 2007, fulfilling employer-mandated DSE training obligations, supporting workplace safety audits, or strengthening your CV for office-based and remote roles.
04
DSE Refresher Training
DSE refresher training is recommended every 3 years to keep your certification current and ensure your knowledge reflects the latest workstation guidance and industry practices. Our online refresher course covers current HSA guidance on display screen equipment, updated best practice for workstation setup and home working, DSE risk assessment requirements, and practical techniques for protecting your posture and eyesight. The refresher takes approximately 40 minutes to complete and issues a new CPD certified certificate upon passing. Staying current with your DSE refresher training protects both employers and employees, reduces absence caused by musculoskeletal problems, and helps businesses stay compliant with Irish workplace safety law.

DSE Training Recognised Across Ireland, the UK & EU
Our DSE course is recognised and accepted across Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. The training content aligns with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 in Ireland, Health and Safety Authority (HSA) guidance on display screen equipment, and the same European framework that underpins DSE rules in the UK and across the EU. Whether you are based in Dublin, London, Berlin, or anywhere in between, your CPD certified certificate carries the same professional weight. This makes our course ideal for multinational companies, distributed and remote-first teams, and individuals seeking a universally accepted display screen equipment qualification.

07
Is DSE Training Required by Law in Ireland?
Yes. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, Chapter 5 of Part 2, every Irish employer must carry out an analysis of employee workstations, provide information and training to employees who habitually use display screen equipment as a significant part of their normal work, plan work so that daily screen time is periodically interrupted by breaks or changes of activity, and provide eye and eyesight tests on request, with corrective appliances provided free of charge where needed specifically for DSE work. These duties sit alongside the general obligations of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) can inspect workplaces and take enforcement action for non-compliance. Completing a certified DSE course helps employers and employees meet these legal obligations and demonstrates a proactive approach to workplace health and safety.
08
How Long is the DSE Certificate Valid For?
Your DSE certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. After this period, you are recommended to complete a refresher course to renew your certification. The 3-year validity period aligns with industry best practice across Ireland, the UK, and the EU. We recommend setting a reminder for your renewal date so you never experience a gap in certification. Employers should maintain a training register to track certificate expiry dates for all staff who use display screen equipment. Our system sends renewal reminders automatically, making it easy to stay compliant and ensuring your team is always covered with valid, up-to-date DSE certification.
09
Can I Do DSE Training Online?

The course is fully self-paced, meaning you can start, pause, and resume at any time from any device with an internet connection. The online format is ideal for busy office teams, remote and hybrid workers, and companies that need to train multiple employees without disrupting the working day. All course content, including video lessons, clear visual slides, and the final assessment, is accessible 24/7. Upon completion, your CPD certified certificate is generated instantly and can be downloaded, printed, or shared with your employer immediately. No classroom attendance is required.
